KU Basketball Bold Predictions Number One: Devonte’ Graham Scores Points

This team won’t have anyone average 20 points a game; few Bill Self teams do. It should be a balanced attack with four or five players averaging in double figures.

Some folks may think freshman sensation Josh Jackson or senior guard Frank Mason III will lead this team in scoring. Don’t be too sure!

Devonte’ Graham will lead the Jayhawks in scoring this season.

Devonte’ Graham will lead the Jayhawks in scoring this season.

Graham is a more natural scorer than Mason, and more likely a better shooter than Jackson. He seemed to grow as an offensive player last season, scoring in double figures 17 of the last 22 games.

While he did drop in 27 in the Big 12 Tournament Championship in against West Virginia, earning him the tourney MVP, he also had two games in the NCAA Tournament where he scored just two points combined. He won’t have many games like those two this season.

Graham will certainly be featured more in the offense. While he can’t penetrate as well as Mason, he certainly can create some things off his dribble.

He is a high energy player who feeds off success, and if he gets it rolling early, his confidence will soar. He will develop into Kansas’ most dependable scorer this season and will lead the team in points when it is all said and done.
