Kansas City Chiefs Draft Target No. 4

Mitch Trubisky – QB – North Carolina

I mentioned earlier that the Kansas City Chiefs could be in the market for a quarterback in 2017.  Well, here is a guy that might end up being worth trading up for.  With Alex Smith set to be a free agent after 2018, the Chiefs can afford to invest some assets in the future at that position.  Mitch Trubisky is starting to become a fast riser up a lot of draft boards.

Mitch Trubisky is a big guy at 6-3, 220 lbs.  That prototypical frame is just part of his appeal.  The big armed junior has also shown to be adept as a passer.  Trubisky currently has a 71% completion percentage while averaging over 330 yards per game.  He also has 18 touchdowns compared to just two interceptions.  The accuracy, arm strength, and decision making are all there.

The questions on Mitch Trubisky will largely center around his experience.  As a first year starter, there isn’t a whole lot known about him.  With college football today going away from quarterbacks having to be football smart, there will be some angst about a complete unknown.  Trubisky does have some inconsistent footwork…but if you can’t tell, I’m really reaching for negatives here.

Media scouts are trying to stay reasonable about Mitch Trubisky right now, but you can tell everyone is getting excited.  I really wish he had more than one year so that I could be more sure about his potential.  However, from what I have seen so far, this kid looks to be a very safe bet for a team in need of a quarterback.  I would say he’s worth the investment.
