Kansas City Chiefs: Top 10 Draft Targets For 2017

Kansas City Chiefs Draft Target No. 5
Charles Harris – DE – Missouri
As mentioned earlier, the Kansas City Chiefs need some help at pass rusher. Well, that help may come via local school Mizzou. The Missouri Tigers have put out some very talented players in recent years, and defensive end Charles Harris aims to be the next one. It just so happens that Kansas City looks like they will be in the market for his services.
Charles Harris is a natural pass rusher with a great blend of strength and athleticism. Versatile in his ability to play from a 3 point or 2 point stance. Already possesses multiple pass rush moves, and shows an understanding of how to set them up. Solid run defender who recognizes run lanes. Consistent problem for opposing offenses, even when being double-teamed.
On the other end, Charles Harris doesn’t have the elite first step or bend that scouts like to see in 3-4 OLBs. That may limit his ceiling as far as becoming an elite pass rusher. Harris also tends to play with a high pad level that will get him in trouble in the NFL. He also has yet to really show his ability to drop into coverage.
I would be a huge fan of this pick. There isn’t much in the way of negatives on Harris, and those that exist can be worked on. I don’t know that Charles Harris will be an elite pass rusher like we have had in Justin Houston and Tamba Hali. However, Harris should be able to provide a good secondary pass rush to compliment Houston, while also being a force against the run.
