The Kansas City Chiefs activated Jamaal Charles today against the New Orleans Saints. Charles may be limited but will he still be effective for fantasy football purposes?

I expect to see Spencer Ware lead the way this weekend for the KC Chiefs offense. It would surprise me if Ware didn’t have a great game against the terrible run defense of the Saints. New Orleans gives up 117.8 rushing yards per game, according to NFL.com.

Ware torched the weak Oakland Raiders run defense last weekend in the rain and mud. He accumulated 131 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries against the Raiders. Ware finished the game with 163 total yards from scrimmage and one touchdown.

Jamaal Charles also did well for your fantasy football team if you started him and limited your expectations. He got nine carries for 33 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches for 14 yards. He finished the day with 10.7 fantasy points in standard scoring leagues.

The only problem with starting Charles today against the Saints, and possibly moving forward, is his knee troubles. Charles had ACL reconstructive surgery on both of his knees in the past. He is coming off a recent ACL surgery a year ago.

ESPN Kansas Chiefs reporter, Adam Teicher, seems to indicate that Jamaal Charles will play today due to what he’s wearing on the field during warm-ups.

This week, Charles experienced swelling in his newly repaired knee. This actually isn’t out of the norm for people coming off of this type of surgery but the Kansas City Chiefs will limit his snaps today against the Saints.

I think Charles will have a similar performance to what he had last weekend versus the Raiders. Not a terrible flex play or low-end running back two if you are desperate due to injuries and/or bye weeks.

Jamaal Charles is active for today’s game versus the Saints, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.

Fantasy Football owners should feel slightly better about starting Charles. If you have a better option go with them. Here is a good example of a better option.

A good example of a better option is if you have Jacquizz Rodgers on your team. Start him over Charles due to Rodgers being the lead back again this week due to Doug Martin being out of the game against a terrible San Franciso 49ers team.

I hope this information about Jamaal Charles and the Kansas City Chiefs running game helps you make a great decision for your fantasy football team.

One more thing before I leave, don’t start Charles in daily formats. He won’t see enough work to benefit you in that kind of format. Good luck this week.
