Missouri Tigers: Bowl Hopes Hinge On Next Four Games
By Ben Almquist
Vanderbilt Commodores
This stretch of games for the Missouri Tigers comes to a close against the 3-4 Vanderbilt Commodores. Despite their current record, and their historical narrative, this will be a very difficult challenge for Mizzou. The Commodores have been an up and down team this year, but have a defense that can harass opponents.
Of special note to the Tigers should be the fact that Vandy beat Georgia this year, who had previously beaten Mizzou. Granted, that is not a clear indicator of who the better team is. However, it does show just how tough this team can be.
There is no real predictive measure for the Commodores, or for the Tigers for that matter. However, getting this game at home should work well for Mizzou. The Commodores don’t put up a lot of offense, especially on the road. That works in Missouri’s favor.
This won’t be a pretty game to watch, but the Tigers should get the win here. Getting a win here keeps Mizzou in the hunt for a bowl game, though with some tough opponents ahead. Mizzou Wins: 17-13
It’s a tough position to be in for the Tigers. They have to win these games. However, pulling off four straight wins is no easy task. With Tennessee and Arkansas as the final two teams on the schedule, a bowl game hinges in the balance. I have a hard time seeing Mizzou pulling this one out.

The Missouri Tigers had low expectations for this season, but they still have a chance to salvage something. A low tier bowl game may not sound like much, but given the situation this program started it, it’s a huge win. These next four games could go a long way in deciding the future of Missouri football for the foreseeable future.
