Missouri Tigers: Bowl Hopes Hinge On Next Four Games
By Ben Almquist
The Missouri Tigers are a disappointing (though expected) 2-4, but have a four game stretch that may get them into the bowl eligibility.
Hopes were not high for the Missouri Tigers coming into the 2016 season. After all of the turmoil at the end of 2015, and over the offseason, there just wasn’t a lot going for Mizzou. When I previewed the Tigers before the season, I saw a team that was desperate to just hold on. While that has been bout what we have seen from them, the Tigers do have an opportunity to still get into a bowl game.
So far this season, the results have matched the expectations. Mizzou has claimed a pair of victories against lowly Eastern Michigan and virtually non-existent Delaware State opponents. On the other end, the Tigers have been the victims of back to back blowouts against SEC opponents LSU and Florida. Along the way, the Tigers have another pair of losses to Georgia and West Virginia.
So where is this “silver lining” about a bowl game coming from? Well, the next four games on the Tigers schedule are very favorable. If Mizzou can pull these game out, they will hit both the 6 win and .500 record marks required for bowl eligibility. The four teams to beat are Middle Tennessee State, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt.
