I decided to end the questioning with a fun, but tough question for Barry.

LO: Favorite KC barbecue spot? (If you’ve had our BBQ before)

BH: I don’t know if it’s still there, but when I was there as a kid for a game back in 1976 (yes, I’m old) there was a place called Arthur Bryant’s BBQ.

My Paw Paw’s old buddy from his Army days, who was a Kansas City native and our host for the weekend who got us our tickets for game (in which “new” Saints head coach and former legendary Chiefs head coach Hank Stram “returned” to K.C. triumphantly and led the Saints to a 27-17 upset over the Chiefs), actually knew the old man (Arthur Bryant himself I presume?) that owned the place, and we ate for free.

I was only 8 (about to turn 9) at the time, but it (my weekend in Kansas City with my late, great Paw Paw and his old pal from the Army) remains as one of the most unforgettable experiences of my entire life.

Nice pick, Barry! Arthur Bryant’s is indeed still up and running and is quite delicious. No one in Kansas City will fault you for that pick.

There’s nothing like Kansas City barbecue during a football game on Sundays. Man, I love this city.
