With the Saints playing in an entirely different conference than the Chiefs, it’s doubtful that people in Kansas City really know a whole lot about the New Orleans Saints and their players.

LO: Who is one Saints player that Chiefs fans don’t know about, but should know about?

BH: Sadly, he won’t play in this game. It’s Sheldon Rankins, the team’s #1 draft pick this year, the defensive tackle from Louisville.

Rankins broke his leg on a goal line drill during Training Camp in August, and was placed on injured reserve — and is due back sometime within the next few weeks.

He was suppose to bring an “immediate impact” to a D-Line that needed both his run-stopping prowess and his ability to get after the quarterback, and is a player often compared to L.A. Rams All-Pro DT Aaron Donald. The Saints have missed him dearly, and his absence has definitely been felt.

If I HAVE to pick player who is playing in this game, then it would be Michael Thomas, the sensational rookie WR out of Ohio State.

I wanted the Chiefs to take a good, long look at Sheldon Rankins in the draft, but he was off the board by the time their pick came up. Michael Thomas is a great young receiver though, and not many people in Kansas City have likely seen him in action this season.

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Thomas balled out big time on Sunday against D.J. White or whoever else is playing in that second cornerback spot.
