Kansas City Royals: What Went Right in 2016
Obviously as fans, we tend to focus on the negatives of a season (except for when our team wins the World Series), but there were a lot of positives to take out of 2016.
Danny Duffy emerging as an ace was huge for this ball club. The Kansas City Royals need an ace and they need one badly.
Kendrys Morales’ 30 home runs was awesome, but sadly, it doesn’t look like he’ll contribute to their offensive production in 2017.
Matt Strahm was a nice addition to the team though, striking out 30 batters in only 22 innings pitched. He could make a nice seventh or eighth inning bullpen guy or could be a nice fifth starter for the team in 2017.
All in all, this season was disappointing, there’s no debating that. The Kansas City Royals won the World Series in 2015 and a lot of us at least expected them to win the American League Central again in 2016.
Instead, the Royals were plagued with injuries and their playoff hopes were dwindling midway through the season.
2016 wasn’t the Royals’ year, but make no mistake about it… This team will be back and ready to fight like hell come 2017.
