Kansas City Royals: Top Ten Moments of 2016 Season
Best Moments of the 2016 Season – Number 3: Morales is a Beast
Before the 2015 season began, Dayton Moore went out and signed Kendrys Morales to become the team’s new designated hitter. Fans weren’t the most excited about the move at the time, as Morales had been trying to come back from a terrible injury he sustained years prior.
Morales went on to dominate in his first season in a Royals jersey and played a pivotal role in getting this team a World Series title.
The designated hitter struggled at the start of the 2016 season, but finally got into a groove when the summer began.
While Morales coming back to Kansas City in 2016 isn’t a given, I don’t think any Royals fans would be upset with the team re-signing him.
Hell, Morales was so good at one point that when the Royals hit the road for interleague play against the Cardinals and Phillies, the team stuck him in right field. He was actually pretty good in right too.
The best part about Morales in 2016 though? His ability to do what no other Royal had done in 16 years – Hit for 30 home runs in a season. Morales did just that, smashing 30 home runs out of the park. He was the first Royal to do so since Jermaine Dye in 2000.

I was nine years old when a Royals player last hit for 30 home runs in a season. NINE. I can now drink legally and rent a car legally. That’s how long it’s been since it last happened. Way to go, K-Mo!
While Morales coming back to Kansas City in 2016 isn’t a given, I don’t think any Royals fans would be upset with the team re-signing him. His bat has been huge for the lineup during his two years with the Royals.
