Best Moments of the 2016 Season – Number 5: Bullpen is Legit

As Kansas City Royals fans, we were used to seeing our bullpen be dominant and not allow runs. Any time a run was allowed, it was almost like hell had frozen over.

It wasn’t quite like the H-D-H Days, but it was still really freakin’ impressive.

While 2016 was a little different due to injuries, there was a crazy period of time where the Royals bullpen didn’t allow a single run. That’s right, the Kansas City Royals’ bullpen went 41 1/3 innings without allowing a run. That is impressive.

The guys in the pen at that time weren’t the usual crop of Royals you’d expect. They were Brian Flynn, Dillon Gee, Kelvin Herrera, Chien Ming-Wang, Peter Moylan, Joakim Soria, Matt Strahm, and Chris Young. Yeah, not the names you’d expect to see with such an impressive record, but they did just that.

The record breaking streak ranged from August 10th to August 26th.

It was like the “olden days”, as fans once again knew their bullpen would come through in the clutch. It wasn’t quite like the H-D-H Days, but it was still really freakin’ impressive.
