Kansas City Royals: Top Ten Moments of 2016 Season
Best Moments of the 2016 Season – Number 6: A Royal Night in San Diego
Surely fans remember voting like crazy to get all of the Kansas City Royals into the 2015 All-Star Game. It wasn’t nearly as crazy in 2016, but Salvador Perez earned another start, and Eric Hosmer was voted into his first All-Star Game.
Hosmer winning All-Star MVP was special because those types of things don’t happen to Royals players very often.
It was a Royal night in San Diego, as Eric Hosmer crushed a home run in the bottom of the first inning, tying things up against the National League. Literally the next play saw Salvador Perez crushing a home run as well.
It was still Hosmer’s night though, as the guy singled in Edwin Encarnacion on a single in the third inning. His efforts in the big game A) Gave the American League home field advantage in the World Series and B) Earned him the MVP Award that night.
Hosmer winning All-Star MVP was special because those types of things don’t happen to Royals players very often. The last few years, Mike Trout has earned the award, or usually it’s some other big time player.
Eric Hosmer deserved it though, and it was pretty funny seeing Mets fans tweet about Hosmer being in their nightmares once more. Mets and NL manager Terry Collins even said he had seen enough of Eric Hosmer and those meddling kids spoil his plans.
This was a cool night all around, but definitely well deserved for Eric Hosmer. You go, Eric Hosmer.
