Kansas City Royals: Top Ten Moments of 2016 Season
Best Moments of the 2016 Season – Number 8: Go Go Orlando
Before 2015 began, it’s doubtful that many KC Royals fans even knew who Paulo Orlando was. He was a then 29-year old, who had been in the minors for nearly a decade. He got his first chance to shine in 2015 and became known as “Mr. Triple” for his knack for hitting triples.
In 2016, Paulo Orlando continued to impress. At one point, the Brazilian native had a 14-game hitting streak and had a batting average of .444 during that 14-game span.
Orlando had shed the “Mr. Triple” label by becoming “Mr. Clutch”. His ability to provide a big hit in key moments was huge, and it showed why the Royals were so high on him this year.
Hell, Orlando spent the entire season in the majors, not having to head to the minors at all. His speed and ability to hit the ball were critical for the Kansas City Royals, and Orlando, now 30 (he’ll be 31 on November 1st), has definitely proven himself to this team and to the fans.
