The 2016 season was a down year for the Kansas City Royals, but the boys in blue did have their fare share of memorable moments.

After two straight World Series appearances, the KC Royals failed to make it into the postseason in 2016. Injuries killed this team from early on and continued to do so until the final few games of the season. It was just bad luck, something the team didn’t seem to fall into much during their World Series seasons.

Despite the .500 record (which anyone who followed this team during the 2000s would kill for), the Kansas City Royals had plenty of memorable moments in 2016. Let’s take a look at the ten most memorable moments.

Best Moments of the 2016 Season – Number 10: Getting the Gear

Opening Day at Kauffman Stadium was important for the Kansas City Royals organization. They were returning to the K for the first time since winning the World Series and got to don their new World Series patches on their sleeves.

Not only that, but that first game was when the 2015 World Series Champions banner was raised at the K for all to see. It was the first time a lot of Royals fans got to see a championship flag raised, as the last title had been 30 years prior.

The second game of the season was more about the players, as each guy got to run out in front of the crowd and receive his World Series ring.

The coolest part was that the Royals had Alex Gordon go last. Everyone got their rings, and then Ryan Lefebvre gave this great speech before Gordon came out to collect his ring.

Gordon had just signed the biggest contract in season history, and we all were glad he was in a Royals uniform when he received his ring this year. It just wouldn’t have felt right otherwise.
