All in all, this just wasn’t the KC Royals’ year when it came to making a run at the playoffs.

It appeared the Royals might be back to their old tricks when they came within two or three games of the second Wild Card, but then a 2-6 home stand happened and they took themselves right out of the running.

While I respect those of you who still had hope late into the season, it was hard for me to imagine the Royals making it to the playoffs. That doesn’t make me a bad fan, it just makes me a realistic fan.

Had the Royals punched their ticket into the postseason, they likely wouldn’t have made much of an impact. Their lineup isn’t scaring anyone and their starting pitching just hasn’t had it this year. The bullpen also hasn’t been a weapon, which is pretty much how the team made their respective runs over the last two years.

While it sucks that the Kansas City Royals won’t be returning to their third straight playoff appearance, they can take this October off and enjoy themselves. They can then come back well rested in 2017 for one last run with this core group.
