Edwin Jackson

Edwin Jackson is another “Dayton Dart”, but one that the Royals probably wouldn’t take a big risk on. Jackson has been around for a long time (2003, to be exact), but is only 33 years old.

This is an option that I really can’t see the Royals going with due to the fact that Jackson hasn’t been all that effective in four years. Since then, he’s been wishy washy at best.

This could be the type of contract in which Dayton signs him to a minor league deal and then he comes up to help out the Royals later on, like Kris Medlen in 2015 and what Mike Minor was supposed to do this year.

Again, this is one that could be put in the “Unlikely” column, but a long time veteran who’s had starting experience in the majors could be worth bringing on board. When you consider that Jackson would be the fifth guy in the rotation, an inexpensive one-year deal could be something that makes sense for both sides.
