KC Royals: Free Agent Pitchers to Target During Offseason
Brandon Morrow
Brandon Morrow isn’t a huge name, and that’s why a lot of KC Royals fans would likely kick this idea down before it even got brought up. I advise you to look past the big names (if there are any on the free market this offseason) and take a look at Morrow more thoroughly.
Morrow has been in the majors for ten years now, splitting that time between Seattle, Toronto, and San Diego. He has a career ERA of 4.18, but while most of the older guys in the league tend to decline as they get older, Morrow has gotten better.
In his last two seasons, the guy has posted ERAs under 3 (2.73 in 2015 and 2.13 this year), but it is worth noting that he hasn’t seen much action during that span due to injuries. That’s where the issues arise.
Morrow has only thrown more than 150 innings once in his decade long career (in 2011 with Toronto), but he could be a cheap acquisition. Not only that, but he could be a nice option in the bullpen too, should Dayton Moore choose to go with that route.
This isn’t a flashy name, but it’s more of the type of signing the Royals have rolled with in the past.
