KC Royals: Free Agent Pitchers to Target During Offseason
Doug Fister
Doug Fister was someone that I would have liked to have seen the Kansas City Royals bring on last offseason, but he ended up signing with the Houston Astros. Fister struggled a bit with Houston, tossing 174 innings thus far with a 4.45 ERA in 30 starts.
Fister’s nothing fancy, but he’d be affordable. He’s not going to be that guy that goes out and wows you every start, but he’s reliable and is the definition of “late starter”.
Doug Fister has tallied 12 wins and 12 losses in his lone year with the Astros and has a career ERA of 3.57. He’s someone that I could actually see the KC Royals giving a long, hard look to just because of the money situation. He’s not going to demand a ton of money and could probably be brought on a short-term deal.
Fister will be 33 in February and has spent eight years in the majors. He’s someone that could fit in well with this Royals pitching staff.
