So Much Happening

I mentioned that the Kansas City Chiefs are at the geographical center of the current discussion on race and the legal system.  From the shooting of Mike Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, to the protests of the Missouri Tigers football team, to the recent shooting of Terrance Cutcher in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Along the way, there have been numerous other incidents in close proximity to Kansas City.

You can argue any of these cases as you see fit, but there is no denying that a large number of people see a problem.  As the saying goes: “Perception is reality”.  As long as a significant portion of the American population perceive a problem, then there is one.

The evidence seems to support this as well.  I’m not talking about statistics.  Statistics can tell you whatever you want to believe.  What I am talking about is that this has become a consistent story line.  Even with the added focus on police, we are still seeing these cases pop up.  As long as that continues to happen, this remains an issue.

There are definitely cases where officers are not at fault.  Conversely, there are definitely cases where they are.  However, as long as there is a public perception of a problem then we will continue to see protests and arguments.
