Will The Offensive Line Be Healthy?

Let’s be honest, the offensive line became a problem last weekend. The KC Chiefs were without a couple of starting lineman, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (LDT) and Parker Ehinger last weekend due to injuries.

LDT suffered from an ankle injury, while Ehinger missed the game with a concussion. LDT practiced on Wednesday but Ehinger did not.

If one guy plays and the other doesn’t that’s better than none returning. The Chiefs couldn’t protect Alex Smith against the Texans last week with Fulton and Reid filling in on the offensive line. Miscommunication on the line led to a huge turnover due to a bad snap. Smith got sacked and fumbled the ball thanks to the lack of protection by the line.

Running back, Spencer Ware couldn’t find holes to run through too often because the offensive line did not create running lanes for the backs all day. Ware carried the ball ten times for 57-yards including a 25-yard gain. That won’t get the job done.

Kansas City needs a healthy offensive line to help the offense get back to score points on a more consistent basis. With a healthy offensive line, field goal drives could turn into touchdown drives and would be losses could turn into close wins.
