Royals Cool off Quickly

The next stretch of games wasn’t so kind to the Royals. The next sixteen games saw the team generate a 4-12 record.

The Royals scored two or fewer runs seven times, including getting shutout in three games. The pitching staff gave up seven or more runs five times as the team dipped under .500 for the first time in nearly two years.

Mid-May Bounce Back

The Royals came charging back. Over the next three weeks, Kansas City was on fire, winning 15 of 19 games, including a terrific six-game winning streak at the end of May and into early June.

This stretch was one of the softer parts of their schedule. Ten of the wins came against the Twins, White Sox, and Rays, but they did have victories over the Red Sox in there, too.

Things were looking good.
