The KC Royals have streaked their way in and out of contention all year. Finally, the cold streaks overwhelmed the hot streaks.

This Kansas City Royals team may be the streakiest team ever. They certainly are in personal memory. When they are going good, they are very, very good, and when they are bad, they are very, very bad.

Until September, their streakiness could be tied in part to if they played on the road or at home. In this last month of the season, they are 1-7 at Kauffman (through Friday) and 4-2 on the road.

Before September, they were 41-23 (.641) at home and 28-41 (.406) on the road.

Now, the Royals are 74-73 and seven games out of the Wild Card race.

Let’s take a look at how some of these streaks have been so prevalent in determining the rollercoaster ride that was the 2016 season.

Off to a Hot Start

Fresh off the feeling of euphoria that comes being the World Champions, the Kansas City Royals came out blazing early on.

They won 11 of their first 16 games, even though they scored more than six runs just twice.

This stretch included games against the Mets, Astros, Tigers, and Orioles, so they didn’t start off hot against just the cupcakes.
