MU Football: Three Things to Watch Vs Georgia Bulldogs
By Charles Lam
Limit Nick Chubb
Georgia’s not so secret weapon is the dynamic running back, Nick Chubb. Chubb rushed for 1,547 yards and 14 touchdowns as a freshman in 2014. He was well on his way to doing it again a season ago before an injury set him back. He finished 2015 with 747 yards and seven touchdowns in six games in his second season for Georgia.
This season, Chubb already amassed 302 yards and three rushing touchdowns in two games. He’s 228 lbs. and 5’10”. His low center of mass and big body make it difficult on defenders to bring him down on the first hit. In fact, it typically takes more than one defender to bring Chubb down most of the time.
When healthy, the man is a serious contender for the Heisman Trophy Award. The Missouri Tigers linebackers and defensive lineman will have their hands full with Chubb.
Mizzou will lean heavily on the middle linebacker, Michael Scherer, to get Chubb on the ground. Scherer leads the Tigers with 16 tackles this season.
Linebacker Donavin Newsom will also be called upon to stop Chubb. Newsom’s racked up 14 tackles this season for the Missouri Tigers in two games.
