Inside Linebacker

Derrick Johnson, Justin March, DJ Alexander, and Sam Barrington

Cut – Ramik Wilson and Terrance Smith

Injured Reserve – Josh Mauga

The Kansas City Chiefs appear to have a strong group at inside linebacker.  The group is once again headed up by veteran star Derrick Johnson.  Johnson appears set to be joined by second year man Justin March.  Behind those two are DJ Alexander and newly acquired Sam Barrington.  This group should be formidable for the Chiefs in 2016.

Chiefs Make Late Addition:  I’m not entirely sure of the reasoning behind it, but the Chiefs claimed Sam Barrington off of waivers.  To offset the move, Ramik Wilson was let go.  Simply put…I don’t get it.  Ramik Wilson had shown talent and had starting experience as a young player.  That combination should carry some value.  We shall see how this plays out.

Set For The Future?:  I can’t say that I see any needs for the Chiefs at inside linebacker.  However, I also didn’t see the cutting of Ramik Wilson coming either.  Apparently there is someone on the Chiefs staff that disagrees with me quite a bit on this group.  I had thought that Ramik Wilson and Justin March were the future starters at ILB once Derrick Johnson retired.
