Kansas City Chiefs: Breaking Down The 53 Man Roster
By Ben Almquist
Cornerback
Marcus Peters, Phillip Gaines, Steven Nelson, DJ White, Keivarae Russell, and Kenneth Acker
Cut – Deveron Carr
Traded – Marcus Cooper
The Kansas City Chiefs are very young at cornerback, and that is some cause for concern. The most experienced player is Phillip Gaines who has yet to play a full season. The Chiefs are banking hard on their young talent, and that is something that could end up biting them over the course of the season.
Chiefs Swap Depth Guys: The only surprise to the Chiefs cornerback position is that the Chiefs went out and acquired Kenneth Acker, and then turned around and traded Marcus Cooper. There doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between the two players. Also, there must have been better options available, including Eric Rowe in Philadelphia.
Will Chiefs Find Reliable Depth?: I will go on record as saying I think the Chiefs should go after Eric Rowe. The Philly defender is on the trade block and would provide at least some talented depth. As long as the Chiefs are a young and untested group, I will be in favor of bringing in talent. Hopefully I am prove wrong.
