Missouri Tigers: 2016 NCAA Football Season Preview
By Ben Almquist
Players To Watch: Offense
Drew Lock – Quarterback – Sophomore
The Missouri Tigers starting quarterback didn’t endear himself to fans last season when he came on in relief of Matty Mauk. However, Drew Lock looks to overcome that disastrous freshman campaign and show his growth in year two. He should certainly look better just because of experience and natural development.
Chris Black – Wide Receiver – Senior
One of the few bright spots of the offseason for Missouri was the transfer of Chris Black from Alabama. Black was never able to get ahead with Nick Saban’s system, but he seems to be an ideal piece for what the Tigers want to do on offense. However, it always comes down to what is proven on the field. Chris Black will have to prove he has more than just potential.
Alex Ross – Running Back – Senior
If the Tigers can’t get an aerial attack going in 2016, the task of carrying the offense will fall to running back Alex Ross. Ross is another transfer for the Tigers, coming from Oklahoma where he was not being used very frequently despite being effective. Ross offers both power and speed, and is a quality return man on top of being a solid running back.
