Missouri Tigers: 2016 NCAA Football Season Preview
By Ben Almquist
A Tough Schedule
I mentioned that it wouldn’t be easy for the Missouri Tigers to rebound from last year. Part of that is a tough schedule that includes an SEC slate, four games against preseason ranked opponents (two in the top ten), and a tough out of conference game at West Virginia to start the season off. All in all, ESPN is currently projecting the Tigers to go 5-7 again. I think it could be worse.
The Tigers will only play five games on the road this year, but apart from a late season trip to South Carolina, it’s tough to see Mizzou winning any of those games. Missouri will also make trips to LSU, Florida, and Tennessee. Each of those is going to be a tall task for the Tigers to pick up a win. Winning just one game on the road is tough to overcome for any team.
At home, Mizzou will face some more tough tests in Georgia and Arkansas. The Tigers will also face the absolute best that Vanderbilt and Kentucky can throw at them, as each program has to figure Missouri is at their level right now.
The Tigers should be able to claim easy wins against Eastern Michigan, Delaware State, and Middle Tennessee State. After that, Mizzou’s 2016 season is going to be very tough on them. Tiger fans may want to prepare for the worst, because this year could be very bad…and that can have some lasting effects on top of everything else that has happened.
