Best Jayhawks in the NFL – Number 9: Gilbert Brown

NFL defensive tackle from 1993-2003

Gilbert Brown spent his entire 11-year career with the Green Bay Packers and won a Super Bowl with them in the 1996 season.

At 6’2″ and 320 pounds during his pro years, Brown was a dangerous force on Green Bay’s defensive line and really didn’t allow for opponents to run on him.

Brown, a third round pick in the 1993 NFL Draft, went on to play in 125 games, starting 103 of them, and showed that he was one of the best KU alum to ever play in the pros.

At 6’2″ and 320 pounds during his pro years, Brown was a dangerous force on Green Bay’s defensive line and really didn’t allow for opponents to run on him. His defensive prowess helped the Packers hoist the Lombardi Trophy in the late 90s.

Even though he was a fan favorite for Packers fans, Brown’s stats weren’t mind blowing. Pro-Football Reference reports that he had seven sacks and 40 tackles in 11 years, however, it’s possible that not all of his stats were recorded.

Those don’t matter a whole lot though, as Gilbert Brown is without a doubt one of the best Jayhawks to ever play in the National Football League. He’s ninth on this list.
