Kansas City Chiefs: The Good, Bad, & Ugly Vs Bears
By Ben Almquist
Good:
Alex Smith Lights It Up
Kansas City Chiefs starting quarterback Alex Smith has many detractors. He is often called a “game manager”. Critics complain about Smith not throwing the deep ball a lot, or not putting up big numbers on the stat sheets. However, Smith has more than demonstrated his ability to be a quality quarterback this preseason.
Each week, Smith has simply looked better and better. He has made clutch passes under duress, connected on deep passes, and led numerous scoring drives. Simply put, Alex Smith has been a stud this preseason.
Will that continue to the regular season? Your guess is as good as mine, but I am feeling confident. Smith is clearly in tune with both Jeremy Maclin and Travis Kelce, and appears to have found his stride with Chris Conley as well. The Chiefs passing game ripped the Bears apart this past as Smith found receiver after receiver. Game manager? May have to re-think that.
