Potential September Call-Ups – Number 7: Jorge Bonifacio

The Kansas City Royals will hopefully call up outfielder Jorge Bonifacio to give them yet another extra body for the outfield. With Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon now healthy again, Bonifacio likely wouldn’t see much time on the field, but he’ll still likely be called up.

With all of these outfielders, Bonifacio was just another face in the crowd.

Bonifacio has played in 123 games with Omaha this season and is slashing .266/.340/.451 with 17 home runs. He has power, and that’s something that the Royals could use on their roster.

The reason why Bonifacio hasn’t gotten to join the Royals yet to this point is due to the large amount of outfielders the team has. Even with Gordon and Cain on the sidelines, the team still has Billy Burns, Jarrod Dyson, and Paulo Orlando (at one time Brett Eibner as well), not to mention Whit Merrifield spent some time in the outfield.

With all of these outfielders, Bonifacio was just another face in the crowd. He’s only 23 years old, and that means the future is bright for the young Storm Chaser.
