Potential September Call Ups – Number 10: Ramon Torres

At just 23 years old, the Kansas City Royals haven’t gotten a chance to see what Ramon Torres is capable of just yet. He’s spent 2016 with Northwest Arkansas and Omaha, and has an average slash line of .265/.315/.327 in 104 total games.

Torres could be used in a pinch running situation.

Torres has belted 24 home runs this season and would provide a versatile utility player in the infield. He plays second base, third base, and shortstop, so the possibilities for Torres are out there when it comes to giving him playing time down the stretch.

Even though Mondesi has settled in at second base, Alcides Escobar is the go-to shortstop, and Cuthbert is dealing at third, having Torres as a fill-in man could be a solid option for the Royals.

It’s also worth noting that he’s stolen 20 bases with his two minor league teams, meaning Torres could be used in a pinch running situation.

Ramon Torres should finally be getting an opportunity to see some big league pitches.
