Potential September Call-Ups – Number 14: Bubba Starling

Oh, Bubba Starling. We’ve heard so much about you, but have yet to get to see you play in the big leagues.

It has not been a good season for Starling, but he’ll more than likely be joining the Royals come September.

For those who are newer to the Royals fandom, Bubba Starling was the team’s first round pick in 2011. He was a highly touted outfielder from Gardner, Kansas, and had committed to play quarterback at Nebraska.

Instead, Starling opted to join the Royals and has gone on to be a bit of a disappointment thus far. He’s having an awful 2016 season, but will likely be brought up to the majors regardless.

Starling was slashing .185/.251/.322 in 62 games with Northwest Arkansas before being promoted to Omaha, where he’s been just as bad with a .189/.224/.277 slash line.

It has not been a good season for Starling, but he’ll more than likely be joining the Royals come September. Maybe that’ll be the spark for the former fifth overall pick.
