The KC Royals are nearing the final stretch of games for the 2016 season, and the beginning of September will mark the highly anticipated call-up session.

The team can bring up 15 players to expand their roster from 25 to 40.

If a player is already on the 40-man roster, then it’s more than likely that they’ll be called up to the big leagues. If, however, a player is not on the 40-man roster, then the Kansas City Royals have to drop a player in order to have room for said player.

Raul Mondesi was a player that the team and fans were really eager to see called up, and he finally got his shot in July. Mondesi has proven to be a terrific bunter and has incredible speed on the base paths.

Potential September Call-Ups – Number 15: Hunter Dozier

The only player to appear on this list not currently on the 40-man roster is Hunter Dozier, who has been straight up killing the baseball in Omaha this season. He currently has a slash line of .303/.365/.519 with the Storm Chasers and has smashed 15 home runs.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Royals decide to do with Dozier, as he’s typically a third baseman. Cheslor Cuthbert has proven himself at third base in Mike Moustakas‘ absence, which might be why Dozier has spent some time in the outfield this year.

It’s overdue for Dozier to hear his name called at Kauffman Stadium. He may have had a miserable 2015 season in which he was slashing .213/.281/.349 with Northwest Arkansas, but the 25-year old could contribute a lot to these Royals and if nothing else, could potentially be used as a trade piece in the next year or so.

Regardless of the situation, Hunter Dozier should be one of the many joining the boys in blue at the K come September.
