The Redskins may have hit a serious snag with their running game that may spark them to call the Kansas City Chiefs about a running back.  Washington went all in on running back Matt Jones this season.  However, their potential star running back has started the preseason off with an AC Sprain in his shoulder.  This isn’t a particularly major injury, but there is also no clear timetable for a return.

Behind Matt Jones, the Redskins really do not have much in the way of reliable production.  That is not only a problem due to the current injury to Jones, but also over the course of a 16 game NFL season where the team will need to be able to spell their top back.  Charcandrick Jones could be an excellent option for Washington in that regard.

There really is no reason why the Redskins shouldn’t be exploring a trade option.  Even if Jones is healthy in time for the season, they will need a reliable backup.  The Redskins are expected to compete for the NFC East title, and that is going to be much more difficult without a reliable running game.
