Fantasy Football Rookies Number Ten: Austin Hooper

Tight End – Atlanta Falcons

Promising Playmaker: The Falcons made a conscious effort this offseason to add weapons to their offense, and Austin Hooper is one they are very excited about.  Hooper has tremendous athleticism and solid ball skills.  He should start challenging veteran Jacob Tamme for touches as the season goes on.

Backup Tight End: The problem with drafting Austin Hooper is that he is a rookie backup at a position where teams generally only put one guy on the field.  The Falcons have a pretty reliable guy in Jacob Tamme ahead of Hooper on the roster.  That is going to limit the opportunities that Hooper will have to score you some points.

Draft Value – Waiver Wire:  Austin Hooper is a backup tight end.  You don’t draft that player unless there is a known injury, suspension, or a (rare) team that features two tight ends.  The Falcons don’t have any of those issues right now, so don’t use your pick on Hooper.
