Fantasy Football Rookies Number Twelve: Hunter Henry

Tight End – San Diego Chargers

Wide Open Offense:  The Chargers love to sling the ball all around the field.  Philip Rivers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and he has a long history of utilizing his tight ends a lot, especially in the red zone.  Hunter Henry will be the beneficiary of that a few times this year.

Antonio Gates:  Until he retires, Antonio Gates will continue to be the priority target for Philip Rivers.  That won’t affect Hunter Henry in the long run, but it does kind of kill his fantasy value for 2016.  Henry will still get some looks and opportunities, but unless there is an injury or major regression for Gates, there is limited value in the rookie.

Draft Value – Waiver Wire:  The Chargers have a lot of weapons, including the man ahead of Henry on the depth chart, Antonio Gates.  That makes Henry too much of a risk to take in your draft.  However, keep an eye on him because Father Time will have to catch up with Gates one of these days, and this might just be the year.
