Fantasy Football Rookies Number Two: Mike Thomas

Wide Receiver – New Orleans Saints

Big Play Ability:  Mike Thomas has already demonstrated his ability to make big plays this preseason.  That is a good sign for fantasy owners.  Thomas is a deep ball threat with one of the best long ball passers in the NFL in Drew Brees.  If they can make that co nnection work, Thomas will put up some big numbers.

Beating NFL DBs:  The issue with Mike Thomas is that he isn’t a secret.  NFL defensive backs already know about him and are prepping to stop him.  The Texans showed that in week two of the preseason as they were able to hound Thomas for most of his time on the field.

Draft Value – Ninth Round:  There are a lot of more reliable wide receiver options to be had in your fantasy draft.  However, grabbing Thomas as a top option for your bench isn’t a bad idea.  The connection between Drew Brees and Mike Thomas is very promising, and if you can grab both you may be able to double down on some big points without a huge investment.
