Fantasy Football Rookies Number Six: Sterling Shepard

Wide Receiver – New York Giants

Filling In For Cruz?:  There is still some question regarding the return of wide receiver Victor Cruz in New York.  That seems to leave an opening for rookie Sterling Shepard to step up and get a lot of reps.  That’s especially good here as most teams will be giving extra attention to Odell Beckham Jr, which means Shepard should have ample chances to rack up points.

Odell Beckham’s Show:  Even if Shepard takes the starting role from Victor Cruz, this offense is all about Odell Beckham Jr.  That can become a problem as the team will certainly be trying to force the ball to Beckham.  Just because Shepard is on the field, doesn’t mean he will get opportunities.

Draft Value – Twelfth Round:  There is risk to taking Shepard in your draft, but he comes with big potential for reward.  He has the ability to take the starting job from Victor Cruz and establish himself as a reliable target.  Take him towards the end of your draft as a “boom or bust” pick.
