Fantasy Football Wide Receivers – Number 12: Kelvin Benjamin

2014 Stats: 73 REC 1,008 YDS 9 TDS

Don’t forget about Carolina Panthers number one receiver, Kelvin Benjamin. During his rookie season, Benjamin hauled in nine touchdowns and 1,008 receiving yards. Those are great numbers as a rookie.

Benjamin plays for the run first Panthers. Don’t let this scheme effect you. When Cam Newton throws the football, he looks for Benjamin first of all other wide receivers. Benjamin averaged 13.8 yards per reception during the 2014 season.

Unfortunately, Benjamin got hurt last season. He tore his left ACL last August and was held out all of the 2015 season. Without his best receiver, Cam Newton had his best season of his career catapulting him as the NFL’s MVP last season.

Newton may not be able to duplicate his numbers from last year- 3,837 yards, 35 passing touchdowns and ten interceptions – but he could with the return of Benjamin.

If you need a video to jog your memory about how good Kelvin Benjamin was in 2014, take a look at this Youtube video.

In the video, the man referenced Carolina releasing Steve Smith Sr. That man is a great wide receiver. That means that the Panthers know that Benjamin will be a stud. So far he’s done so when healthy.

Benjamin had a full year to recover from the ACL surgery so don’t think he’s not fully healed. The Panthers are playing him in the preseason and Newton is looking for him quite a bit already.

Benjamin probably will slide in the draft due to his young age and uncertainty of the ACL holding ups this season. With modern technology and training staffs that know their players, I believe that his knee will hold just fine.

Good ahead and draft Kelvin Benjamin to your roster. He will pay off.
