Kansas City Chiefs: Rookie Roles for 2016 Season
Kevin Hogan
When the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Stanford quarterback Kevin Hogan in the fifth round, I was pretty stoked. Now, however, the team has five quarterbacks on their roster, and it’s getting a little ridiculous.
While it’d be weird for the Chiefs to cut Hogan after just drafting him, it’s not unheard of.
Nick Foles was brought in to backup Alex Smith, and that leaves Kevin Hogan competing for the third string job with Tyler Bray and Aaron Murray. While it’d be weird for the Chiefs to cut Hogan after just drafting him, it’s not unheard of.
The team appears to be high on Tyler Bray, giving him an extension during the 2015 season, and Murray had a lot of hype surrounding him when drafted in the fifth round just two years ago.
Kevin Hogan’s role during 2016 will likely be spending time on the practice squad. It wouldn’t shock me, however, if Bray or Murray (or hell… even Hogan himself) get a “mystery” injury that causes the Chiefs to place them on injured reserve. This is what the team did last year in order to keep both Bray and Murray, and this could save them the trouble of having to cut two quarterbacks.
I’m just as curious as everyone else as to what the Chiefs will do with their quarterback situation.
