The defensive side of the ball for the Kansas City Chiefs didn’t really have a lot of big plays today. The “sloppy” practice may have been best highlighted by a couple of the plays the defense did make. Marcus Cooper dropped for pushups after a pass deflection that he thought he should have brought in for an interception. Frank Zombo, returning after the birth of his child, also dropped what should have been an easy interception.
The defense has been a little flat this week coming off of the disappointing finish in the loss to Seattle for the preseason opener. While the game is ultimately meaningless, these things can affect top end competitors like NFL players. These guys always want to win.
The Kansas City Chiefs need to find their fire again. A trip to LA to take on the Rams and their questionable quarterback situation might just be exactly what they need, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
