Fantasy Football: Top 15 Running Backs To Target In 2016
By Ben Almquist
Fantasy Football Running Backs: #4 Doug Martin – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Doug “The Muscle Hampster” Martin is almost always a solid bet in Fantasy Football. The load carrier for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is a consistent big play back who knows how to find the endzone.
Protecting A Young QB: The Buccaneers have shown that they don’t intend to overload quarterback Jameis Winston early in his career. Doug Martin is going to play a huge role in that as the best way to protect a quarterback is with a strong running game. Martin will get a lot of touches this season, and his fantasy owners will reap the benefits.
Will His Health Hold?: With all those touches, there comes the increased risk of injury. Martin put in a full season this past year, but he has a pretty big injury history that should give fantasy owners some pause.
Draft Value – 2nd Round: Martin’s injury history is the difference between taking him in the first round and taking him in the second. His ability and production are beyond reproach, it’s just a matter of his health. If you grab him in the second round, you may be getting the top running back in fantasy with your second pick of the draft.
