The Offensive Line

The Kansas City Chiefs have had numerous struggles in fielding a healthy and functional offensive line.  Since their arrival in KC, John Dorsey and Andy Reid have gone through dozens of players and lineups, trying to find a group of five players that could protect Alex Smith and pave the way for the running game.

The Chiefs seem to believe that they have that group this year as there has been almost no shuffling at all on the first team offensive line.  This is the first year that we can really say that.  What’s more is that even the backups seem to have established themselves with Jah Reid and Zach Fulton anchoring the second team.

It has been a long road to get here (and we may not be there yet), but Chiefs fans have reason to be excited about this group.  The Chiefs have assembled a young group of talent that could stay together for the next three or four years if things work out.  That would be a huge boost to the team’s stability moving forward.

The Chiefs have high expectations for this season, and they start right now.  This team needs to come out and show that the hype is warranted and that this is a franchise that is looking to win a Super Bowl.  It has been long enough.
