2016 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks: Number Eight – Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders

Derek Carr has become a high-profile young quarterback. When pundits talk about the future of the league, Carr is usually mentioned pretty quickly.  So far he’s been worthy of the praise he’s gotten.  He has looked good early on, and has developed well.  If he continues on his current career trajectory, expect him to become a top tier fantasy quarterback.

Raiders Giving Him The Tools: The Raiders have built an offense around Derek Carr.  He has a good offensive line, a decent running back, and quality receiving options.  There is no real reason why this offense shouldn’t be able to move the ball.  That will result in fantasy points for Carr.

Too Much Too Soon?: There are some high expectations being set for the Raiders and Derek Carr.  That can be a lot for a young quarterback, especially for a team that is surrounded by turmoil like the Raiders are (possible move).  On top of that, this team hasn’t had a winning season in a very long time.  All of that may end up overloading the young quarterback.

Draft Value – 5th Round: Carr should go in this run of quarterbacks, but I would wait until the fifth round to make a move on him.  He has talent and potential, but he isn’t in the range of the established guys like Rivers and Roethlisberger.
