2016 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks: Number Fourteen – Ryan Fitzpatrick, New York Jets

After a tumultuous offseason where the Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick could not come to terms on a long-term contract, the two sides struck a deal that should have fantasy owners salivating. Some fans will question Fitzpatrick being this high on the list, but you would be hard-pressed to find a quarterback in a better situation to pick up big points this year.

One-Year Contract. Fitzpatrick’s one-year deal is solid gold for fantasy owners.  He will be playing for his future, and players generally take their game to the next level in those situations.  On top of that, Fitzpatrick will be throwing the ball to some awesome targets in Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker.

No More “Fitzmagic”? There is some concern that we will get the old Ryan Fitzpatrick this year.  He doesn’t have a history of stringing together quality seasons, so owners will need to be wary of that.  A good backup plan would be a worthwhile investment.

Draft Value – 9th Round: Fitzpatrick is another quarterback who should be available in the latter half of the draft.  Some players may target him as their starter, but likely won’t be doing it early on.  Adding Fitzpatrick late in the draft will give you the advantage of loading up on backs and receivers early.
