The Kansas City Chiefs released their first preseason depth chart.  It came with few surprises, but there were a few things of note worth discussing.

The Kansas City Chiefs have released their first unofficial depth chart.  Coaches and GMs around the league will tell you that this means nothing.  However, there is actually quite a bit that one can learn from a depth chart.  If nothing else it is a glimpse at how the roster currently stands.

While things are bound to change over the course of four preseason games and the practices in between, the depth chart is out and it does seem to reflect exactly how the Chiefs have been lining up so far in practices.  That alone should let us know that there is some importance to the depth chart.  At the very least, it’s accurate.

For the most part, there wasn’t much in the way of surprises with the depth chart.  The players are listed in much the same way that they have been lining up on the field.  That’s not to say there haven’t been some surprises in that regard though.
