Kansas City Chiefs: Training Camp Recap Day Ten
By Ben Almquist
On the defensive side of the ball, Daniel Sorenson was maybe the most impressive individual of the day. Sorenson has had a quiet camp, but that changed today with a set of hard hits. One of those hits left running back Knile Davis a little shaken up and he had to step off the field. While we don’t want injuries, it’s hard to not like that kind of hitting from a guy fighting to make his mark.
Also having a strong practice were the inside linebackers. Ramik Wilson is filling in for Josh Mauga and making the most of his opportunity. DJ Alexander played well in his starting reps, and Justin March continued to make plays all over the field. This trio of linebackers have a lot of potential for the Chiefs
Oh, Marcus Peters intercepted another pass…and then another one. Because that’s just what he does.
Also in the secondary, Marcus Cooper and Steven Nelson had solid days breaking up passes. It’s good to see that those two are stepping up in this competition. The Chiefs have a lot of young talent in their secondary, but it can take time for players to develop. Getting big contributions from Cooper and Nelson will be a huge bonus to the defense.
