Kansas City Chiefs: Training Camp Recap Day Eight
By Ben Almquist
As to that on-the-field work, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterbacks struggled a bit today. Even Alex Smith had a few bad passes and interceptions. That’s not unexpected during the team’s first live session. However, the offense as a whole was certainly out-performed by a hungry defense that was looking to go full speed for a change.
The Chiefs got another solid day from Demarcus Robinson on the Kansas City Chiefs offense. Robinson continues to make big plays each and every day. That will be something the coaching staff remembers when it comes time to start giving guys playing time in the preseason games.
Tyreek Hill also had a pair of good plays on the day. He got a look at running back where he broke a big gain for a touchdown. Reports say that he simply outran all of the pursuit angles. Hill’s speed has been a constant talking point in Training Camp, and it appears as though that will continue.
Tight ends Travis Kelce and Ross Travis also had pretty good performances today. Of course we expect this from Kelce. I haven’t reported on him a lot, but that’s largely because he’s doing what we expect him to. Travis, on the other hand, has been a bit of a surprise. He is a former basketball player, like Demetrius Harris, and has shown some excellent ability early on.
