Despite the big day for Alex Smith and the wide receivers, it wasn’t all bad news for the Kansas City Chiefs secondary.  Marcus Cooper wound up having himself an impressive performance, picking off a pair of passes in his time on the field.  Cooper needs a big day to keep his roster spot on this team.

However, the defensive player of the day appears to have been rookie defensive lineman Chris Jones who turned some heads in one-on-one drills against the offensive line.  Jones won several contests, displaying some very impressive power and quickness.

The Chiefs need Chris Jones to step up quickly.  The team faces a big contract situation with Dontari Poe in the offseason.  Having Jones ready to step in early in his career will take some of the pressure off of the Chiefs to cave in on a huge contract for Poe that they really can’t afford right now.
