2016 Fantasy Football Defenses: Number Nine – Minnesota Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings get to play half of their games in a brand new stadium. This might provide a boost to the team. Most games will be sold out due to the new stadium. Oh yeah, the team is good as well.

The Vikings lost a painful playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks last season thanks to a missed field goal by the kicker, Blair Walsh. This team is another consistent team on both sides of the football. Let’s take a closer look at the defense.

The Vikings defense totaled 13 interceptions (two for touchdowns), accumulating 21 forced fumbles and 43 sacks during the 2015 season.

This season the Vikings have four good, two bad and ten solid match-ups in the schedule. Three of the four good match-ups come in weeks 13 through 15. The Vikings could be a solid play leading into the fantasy playoffs. Some playoffs being as soon as week 15. The Vikings face the Indianapolis Colts at home that week.

Minnesota’s best fantasy performance came against the New York Giants in week 16 last year. The Vikings scored 20 points on defense/special teams. Harrison Smith intercepted a pass and to it in for a touchdown in the second quarter of the game. The Vikings beat the Giants 49 to 17.

The Vikings defense may not have many memorable players, but this defense can play with the best of them. This team should be an every-week starter in most leagues.
